Car crashes, MTA bus accident, cyclist and pedestrian killed

Bronx vehicle accidents surged during the end of October and beginning of November 2020.

Multi-Car Crash in the Bronx kills a Senior Couple

According to the Bronx Times, a multi-car crash occurred at the intersection of Fullerton Avenue and East Gun Hill Road on October 36. Juan Rosario, age 81, failed to properly navigate the road and crashed into the Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 51-year-old man. Juan and his passenger Hilda Rosario both suffered from trauma, and were unconscious and unresponsive at the accident scene. Emergency personnel rushed them to the hospital where Hilda was pronounced dead. Juan died a week later from his injuries. The 51-year-old victim was listed in stable condition.

A 32-year-old woman driving behind the Chevrolet Suburban swerved in an attempt to avoid the accident but was hit by the Suburban. However, she was not injured.

MTA Bus Hits Pedestrian

An MTA bus struck George Dingfelder, age 78, as he was crossing Morris Park Avenue on October 29. George was crossing against the pedestrian light signal when the front bumper of the bus struck him. He died of severe head trauma on November 3. The police are still investigating the accident and have made no arrests.

Cyclist Dies in south Bronx

A male cyclist ran into a tractor trailer at the intersection of Bruckner Boulevard and Brown Place on November 6. The cyclist crashed into the back of the truck while riding on Bruckner Blvd. He lay unconscious on the roadway and paramedics brought him to Lincoln Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 34-year-old truck driver remained at the accident scene. The accident is currently under investigation.

Bronx Woman Hits and Kills Moped Driver

Stephanie Mendez, age 33, crashed into Frank Davila, age 59 on November 7 on Bruckner Boulevard in Soundview. Davila was driving a moped. Mendez remained at the accident scene and was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Emergency personnel rushed the moped rider to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Bronx Vehicle Accidents—Do You Have a Case?
