Keeping Our Clients Safe

Sackstein, Sackstein & Lee, LLP is taking precautions to keep our clients safe during COVID-19.

Due to the fact that the virus is highly contagious, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) issued guidelines for small businesses to follow to keep their staff and clients safe. Our firm is diligent about following the guidelines the CDC has laid out as we continue doing business with our clients.

We are applying social distancing with our employees and are using face coverings. We encourage our employees and clients to report if they experience symptoms and stay at home if sick. We are also screening our clients to ensure they do not have COVID-19 symptoms during a face-to-face scheduled conference. For the most part, we have replaced meetings with conference calls and virtual meetings.

We have put cleaning and disinfection measures in place. We clean frequently touched surfaces such as counters or shelving. Our employees have disinfectant wipes and sprays available to them that are effective against the virus. Employees are encouraged to wash their hands and practice safe work practices.

Precautions to Expect in NY Court System

The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York has been following the CDC protocols and has a screening system in place for public and attorneys appearing in court. All must fill out a questionnaire regarding symptoms and have their temperature taken before being allowed to enter the courthouse. There is a web link you can click or scan with your mobile phone to fill out the questionnaire and apply for entry. If you meet the qualifications, then you will receive a code to type into the courthouse entry device.

Public who are experiencing symptoms associated with the corona virus that are not due to allergies or some other condition must stay at home. Symptoms include:

• Cough
• Shortness of breath
• Fever
• Chills
• Muscle pain
• Headache
• Sore throat
• New loss of taste or smell
• Extreme fatigue

In addition, if you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19 during the last 14 days, you must not come to the courthouse.

While in the courthouse, you must wear a mask that covers your nose and mouth. A courthouse staff worker will provide you with hand sanitizer to apply at the entrance.

You will place personal items that need to be screened through an x-ray machine in a plastic bag that will be disposed afterward. This includes placing your electronic device in a separate disposable plastic bag.

Social distancing is in effect and marked areas on the floors and seats indicate the required six feet distance.
