His Subaru Outback went airborne, crossing the medium and crashing into a BMW and Honda traveling in the westbound lanes.

According to Long Island News 12, Pinales, age 28 of Hicksville, died at the scene. His 27-year old sister Patricia Pinales of Westbury who was a passenger in his car also died at the scene. Emergency personnel transported Pinales’ 10-year old son, Christopher to Stony Brook University Hospital. His son was in critical condition and later died as well. Establishing Fault in an Accident

Police are investigating the accident and believe speed was possibly a factor. They saw no evidence that Pinales was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
